The Holy Month of Ramadan has arrived yet again, but this time it is a bit different. With the prevalence of coronavirus and quarantine, we will likely be spending the entire month indoors.

On the bright side, this gives us more time to spend with the family and more intervals to pray to the Almighty. Another benefit is that it also gives us a chance to focus on a healthier lifestyle.

Sehri being the meal that provides the energy to complete a sixteen-hour fast is no doubt important. Which is why we must correctly choose what to eat before fasting. Why not give the following a chance?

1. FOCUS ON FIBER AND CARBS

Food like bread, rice, potatoes have the necessary nutrition and they also take longer to digest. Be careful not to stuff yourself with food and avoid eating too much spices as they can cause indigestion.

2. TRY OUT SOME FRUITS

Apple and bananas can be your prime choice. They are packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals. Another amazing thing you can do with fruits is to mix them up with some chia seeds, oat milk, or yogurt. Not only will it be delicious but it also will provide you the energy to easily pass the entire day.

Speaking of fruits, eating a few dates every Sehri will certainly enhance your energy levels as they are filled with vitamins, calories and nutrition.

3. FRESHLY MADE SMOOTHIES CAN EASE YOUR DAY

Yes, another one with fruits, but bear with us. Drinking coffee or tea should be avoided during Sehri as they cause dehydration. Instead, try out fresh fruit juices like watermelon and pineapple juices. The best, however, will be a cool, refreshing glass of coconut water. This will definitely quench your thirst.

4. STRENGTHEN YOUR IMMUNITY

For this, you will need a healthy dose of protein. Meat is packed with it but some might not prefer the spiciness of meat at that time. In that case, eggs can be the best choice. Eggs with rice and lentils or eggs with bread can be a delicious and energizing choice.

Most importantly, do not miss Sehri! Stressing on this point. Even while staying home all day it can still get exhausting if you miss it somehow. Mix up your Sehri diet and try to keep it light yet nutritious. Happy fasting!
